Thermal
Systems Management
For
automotive manufacturers in need of improved climate system
performance, Visteon offers an innovative approach to thermal management designed to provide the right solution. Look to Visteon for the
design and manufacture of integrated systems that significantly
improve occupant comfort while also improving fuel economy
and reducing emissions. This capability is a result of Visteon's ability to apply its automotive intellect by taking a holistic approach of the entire
vehicle and the environment around it.
Measuring the Environment
Visteon's key advantage is Unified Parametric Vehicle (UPV), an innovative
computer-aided engineering application that performs reliable virtual
performance testing on thermal management systems. By using UPV, manufacturers
save precious development time Visteon engineers use UPV to create virtual
models that predict real world performance of passenger climate and powertrain
cooling systems without having to build a physical prototype.
With UPV, Visteon
can accurately measure the interaction and impact of a wide range of properties,
from vent configurations to changing weather conditions. And by analyzing
hundreds of design choices, climate properties and driving styles, we
can design system options that significantly improve occupant comfort,
reduce environmental impact, and assure proper engine thermal management.
Global Climate
Laboratories
One of the best examples of Visteon's thermal systems capability is its global network of climate laboratories. With these laboratories, Visteon engineers apply industry-leading tools to examine how thermal management systems work,
inside and out, from environmental impact to engine thermal management
to passenger comfort.
With locations around the globe, Visteon has the capability to test performance as well as
noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and the durability of climate systems,
subsystems and components. Visteon offers vehicle manufacturers the benefit of solutions developed at the most advanced testing facilities
in the automotive industry. In fact, Visteon's climate laboratories meet or exceed QS
9000 guidelines for operating procedures such as workflow, calibration,
training and running of test equipment.
Key Life Testing commonly tests these climate systems:

Key
Life Testing
Key
Life Testing determines the reliability of systems and
components by defining the stresses induced by consumer usage
patterns and environmental conditions over their useful product
life. It captures a reliable simulation of the consumer experience
in order to give manufacturers the necessary data to improve
reliability and durability and reduce warranty cost.
Systems are tested
to measure in-vehicle and component vibration, airflow and the impact
of environmental conditions (salt, wind and fog). Additional Key Life
Tests measure the performance and durability of compressors, heat exchangers,
blowers and cooling fan motors.
Integrated Climate
Systems
Visteon's approach to thermal management approach offers vehicle manufacturers
fully integrated systems from one reliable source. Combined
with Visteon's capabilities in integrated cockpit design and manufacturing,
the result is reliable and efficient systems
solutions for almost any vehicle program.
