So many inventions and innovations are the result of "happy accidents," coincidences or just plain luck. At Visteon, innovation is no accident. By purposefully leveraging design expertise, the result is the delivery of workable solutions for the customer who seeks brand-differentiating designs. This notion of developing design-enabling concepts is a strategic role performed by Visteon designers. This process serves two functions:
First, it allows designers at the automakers an opportunity to see how a Visteon offering can help them achieve brand differentiation. An example of this design enabling concept is Visteon's Flexible Instrument Panel. The flexible quality of the instrument panel has nothing to do with its ability to bend, but it has everything to do with how automakers are able to use it to create unique instrument panels and cockpits.
The frame is designed to be shallower than usual so automakers can integrate brand-specific design elements. Because it is based on a common infrastructure, this solution illustrates Visteon's ability to deliver brand-differentiation potential at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional solutions.
- Second, a product innovation can have a ripple effect throughout the entire vehicle design. For instance, Visteon has developed a front lighting concept using Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The pebble in the pond in this example can be attributed to packaging — Visteon's LED Front Lighting minimizes the amount of space consuming area required compared to traditional front lighting applications. Additionally, Visteon designers were able to take this technology and design ways to incorporate it into an existing vehicle. This innovative approach provides automakers with a myriad of configurations to implement LED Front Lighting into a future vehicle platform — visualize to realize.

regardless of the challenge. For instance, a customer needed a complete redesign of an existing vehicle's interior.
Because Visteon has dedicated support assigned to individual customers, the designers are able to understand the customer's brand character and respond to the request, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
