Visteon's prototyping facilities include designers and engineers that work as a fully integrated team to produce rapid prototypes that facilitate a better, more efficient development process. Objectives for these facilities include:

• Develop and build high-quality prototype parts quickly and at minimal cost, by working with engineers up-front.
• Drive innovation and process improvements for customers to improve quality, time and cost.
• Enable quick verification of Computer Aided Engineering analysis prior to committing to tooling specifications.
• Ensure that plants and production suppliers are properly equipped and staffed to fabricate vehicle build prototypes.

Visteon provides the latest in rapid prototyping technology such as machines that build prototypes from computerized data (Solid Model computer aided design – CAD – data) using FDM and CAMD technology.

Free-form Fabrication
Free-form fabrication is the manufacturing of parts in layers from CAD data. Through rapid prototyping, Visteon can build (in layers) parts ranging from instrument panels to radio buttons. In-house capabilities include:
