Bring your connected life into the vehicle

By 2020, three out of every four cars built will have internet connectivity. Cars have a much longer lifespan than the rapidly evolving network technologies. Visteon’s advanced connectivity modules incorporate the latest generation of wireless technologies such as LTE/5G, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, V2X (DSRC and cellular). We enable high-bandwidth data services, secure software updates across the vehicle, and safety applications.

One V2X solution for all global markets

Cars are becoming ever-more connected to other cars, roadside infrastructure, and to the cloud. But which technology standard will underpin all this “vehicle to everything” (V2X) communication? The original standard for V2X is DSRC, which is based on IEEE 802.11p short-range wireless technology. An emerging alternative is cellular V2X (C-V2X) proposed by the 5G industry, which is favored by some markets over DSRC. Visteon’s unique V2X solution allows use of either DSRC or C-V2X technology with the same hardware module using different software, allowing global automakers to address all markets with one solution.

Software updates – fast, secure and over the air

Your car should always be up to date with latest features, applications and performance enhancements. However, these over-the-air updates to the critical software of the vehicle are more challenging than updates to your phone or computer. If not done properly, OTA updates to the car can create unintended functional, safety and security issues. Visteon’s OTA update solution enables ECU software to be securely updated, with the ability to fall back on existing software if the update process fails or is halted for some reason.
