Cars are becoming ever-more connected to other cars, roadside infrastructure, and to the cloud. But which technology standard will underpin all this “vehicle to everything” (V2X) communication? The original standard for V2X is DSRC, which is based on IEEE 802.11p short-range wireless technology. An emerging alternative is cellular V2X (C-V2X) proposed by the 5G industry, which is favored by some markets over DSRC.
