Visteon plant in China achieves Ford quality award

12/09/2020

Maintaining the standard of exceptional performance across its global operations – recently exemplified by the company’s plant in Chihuahua, Mexico – Visteon’s manufacturing facility in Shanghai, China has followed suit in achieving Q1 certification on quality delivery for major customer, Ford.

Marking the accomplishment on Nov. 20, Visteon staged an award ceremony at its Shanghai Visteon Automotive Electronics (SVAE) site, where the management team hosted company employees and senior representatives from Ford’s purchasing division in China.

Representing a quality first mind-set, the certification is a significant milestone for SVAE’s standing and development as a leading and trusted manufacturing facility within the region. Ford’s Q1 qualification signifies an influential benchmark for supplier quality assessment in the automotive industry, and is the highest honor bestowed by the automaker to its Tier 1 partners. The quality attainment confirms SVAE’s position as a valued member of Ford’s global supplier team.

In order to gain Q1 validation, SVAE were tasked with meeting a number of critical requirements beyond technical specifications – demonstrating capable systems, continuous improvement, superior manufacturing processes and, ultimately, customer satisfaction.

To ensure success in pursuing the award and all goals were met throughout, SVAE established a cross-functional team that monitored performance metrics and developed action plans on a regular basis, from the starting point in January 2018.

SVAE has a long and proud history of delivering pioneering cockpit technologies to Ford, including the dual display to the Ford Territory compact crossover SUV for the past 16 years. With this endorsement of excellent quality and delivery from the customer, SVAE demonstrates how Visteon’s superior technical acumen and market insight makes it a leader within the cockpit electronics space with the potential to drive extended success for the future.
