Organization of Michigan physicians thanks Visteon for PPE support

06/17/2020

COVID-19 has presented unique challenges for Visteon’s employees around the world – but the pandemic has also provided the opportunity for colleagues to demonstrate their strength of character and willingness to help others. Soon after the coronavirus became a global concern, Visteon teams across various regions proactively utilized their capabilities to plan, design and manufacture essential personal protective equipment (PPE) and distribute it to areas in need.

Assisting various global medical facilities and other support centers requiring PPE – as well as employees at its own sites – Visteon has produced nearly 70,000 face shields since March. In recognition of the company’s donation, an organization of physicians in Michigan showed its appreciation in a letter of thanks for Visteon’s hard work and support.

The more than 475 physician members of Professional Medical Corporation (PMC) based in Flint, Mich., U.S., near Visteon’s Grace Lake Corporate Center headquarters, were some of many medical institutions to be hit hard in the initial stages of the pandemic. The lack of adequate PPE presented a barrier to staff needing to deliver customary care to some of the most vulnerable patients in the area.

The beneficiary of a plan by President and CEO Sachin Lawande – whereby Visteon employees could suggest and nominate specific facilities for PPE assistance – PMC welcomed the donation of about 1,000 face shields that allowed physicians and their staff to attend to those in need of care as safely and efficiently as possible.

Other PMC representatives added that Visteon’s generous donation of face shields speaks volumes for the company’s commitment to supporting a successful healthcare community.
