TIMISOARA, Romania, Jan. 23, 2019 – Visteon Corporation (Nasdaq: VC), the only Tier 1 automotive supplier focused exclusively on cockpit electronics, is opening a new software development center in a 5,000-square meter facility in Timisoara’s new ISHO Offices building, part of the ISHO campus. Starting initial operations in Nov. 2018, the center will primarily be engaged in software development for advanced cockpit electronics products – including digital instrument clusters, infotainment and information displays – and will support the development of new technologies for connected and autonomous driving.
The Timisoara center will operate as an integral part of Visteon’s European product development footprint, which also includes development centers in Germany, Bulgaria, France and the UK. Supporting both European and global automaker programs, the Timisoara center will play a leading role in software and product development for the next generation of technology for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving applications.
Visteon’s Timisoara technology center is on a fast track to have full competence for transforming customer requirements to fully tested solutions ready to be deployed in mass production. The center will support Visteon’s growth with customers such as BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, PSA and Jaguar Land Rover, among others.
In 2021, when the three-phase development is scheduled to end, ISHO will become a new hub in the city with more than 1,200 apartments, 50,000 square meters of new-generation offices, and a range of amenities including an international hotel, restaurants and cafes in the pedestrian area, a gym, proximity shops, banks and a medical center. ISHO will have 2,000 parking places, 7,500 square meters of green area, playgrounds, an after-school facility, exhibition hall and other social facilities.
