Visteon’s India team has been awarded one of the top prizes at Auto Tech Review's International Automotive Technology and Innovation Awards (IATIA), which were held in New Delhi on Dec. 15. Recognized for the variety of innovative infotainment features primed to enhance the overall user experience, Visteon secured the ‘Convenience Technology of the Year (Supplier)’ gong for the third successive year for the new-age XUV500 infotainment system in a Mahindra SUV.
IATIA 2017 featured awards across nine separate categories - incorporating safety, environment, technology and student innovation. All submissions were screened by an external jury panel comprising distinguished industry professionals representing global automakers, research associations and industry analysts.
Visteon joined a prestigious list of winners that included Hyundai, Nissan, Tata and Volvo, with judges commending the company for redefining the user experience and providing another technology first for the India market. The infotainment solution provides the highest level of infotainment features in the market today and, with native apps (leveraging Wi-Fi chipset) and Ecosense, the new elements on this pioneering platform also include Connected Apps, Android Auto and E-Call. These updates deliver an advancement that will redefine the in-car experience for Mahindra customers – improving connectivity, convenience and entertainment options while optimizing efficiency.
Some of the innovations brought into the XUV500 program by Visteon include adapting the system to local requirements; designing a Wi-Fi compatible system; making the platform configurable for automakers – who can add or delete native apps as they choose; and providing a system that can be easily updated via the vehicle’s USB port.
