Enhanced hypervisor configuration with Visteon's SmartCore™ Studio

04/24/2018

The next generation evolution of Visteon’s first-to-market SmartCore™ cockpit domain controller provides integration of Visteon’s software stacks along with Phoenix™ and Android infotainment. SmartCore™ Studio is a configuration and build tool to generate hypervisor configuration, including visual feedback of software partitioning that is essential for guest operating systems to run securely and independently.

Leveraging the latest software development trends, Visteon’s SmartCore™ Studio offers developers a user-friendly PC-based tool to generate hypervisor configurations. In a new video, Waheed Ahmed, SmartCore™ chief architect, demonstrates how the user can easily configure virtual systems across multiple systems-on-chip (SoC).

Delivering a comprehensive walkthrough of its functionalities, Waheed explores Studio’s design area for system engineers, as well as touching on the list of available resources that make up the system’s underlying hardware.

SmartCore™ Studio is designed for engineers that intend to work with Visteon’s hypervisor toolkit. The software is used to construct a hypervisor configuration essential for the management of guest operating systems.

Device tree specification (DTS) files – describing the data structure of the platform – serve as input parameters for this tool. In addition, SmartCore™ Studio provides a list of useful features and visual artifacts to interact with DTS files in order to configure its structure. Subsequently, it is expected that engineers will compile the project, generate binaries and flash them to the board externally connected to the machine.
