When you visit Visteon's Web site you do so anonymously. During normal Web site usage, we do not collect or store personally identifiable information such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number or social security number. The only information we collect and store during normal Web site usage is the name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the date and time you entered our Web site, the amount of time you spend there, the pages you request, the referring Web site, and other such related information. We gather this information to generate statistics and measure site activity—for the sole purpose of continuously improving the Site, resulting in better, more useful customer visits.

Why and When We Collect Personal Information
Sometimes, it is necessary to collect specific customer information in order to fulfill a visitor's request for a service or correspondence. This information, such as name, mailing address, email address, type of request and possibly additional information, is collected and stored by Visteon to fulfill your request. Your personal information is never given to any other company for that company's independent use. Visteon may employ third-party companies to perform services or functions on our behalf. These companies may require access to personal information in order to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.

Visitors to provide personally identifying information only when using one or more of the following services:

  • Contact forms;
  • Resume submission;
  • Requests for additional information such as annual reports or other brochures;
  • Surveys and Business Reply forms;
  • Subscription e-mails.

If a visitor uses our "e-mail a friend" function to forward information located on the Visteon site to a friend's e-mail address, we send the email as requested. We will not use the friend's information to contact them in the future. Visteon also tracks Web site usage data for users who respond to a VISTconnect communication; however, that data is not personally identifiable.

How We Collect Personal Information
Like many Web sites, the Visteon Web site uses "cookie" technology. When you first connect to our site, the cookie identifies your browser with a unique, random number. Cookies help us determine past users from new users and unique users, and to understand which parts of our Web sites are the most popular, where our visitors are going, and how long they spend there. Your browser has options to accept, reject, or provide you with notice when a cookie is sent.

In some of our communications, we use a "click-through URL." When you click one of these URLs, you pass through our Web server before arriving at the Web site that is your destination. We track this data to help us determine your interest in particular topics and measure the effectiveness of our customer communications.

What We Do With Information You Provide Us
When contacting us about a product or service, visitors to our Web site may decide to send us information that identifies them personally. When that is the case, Visteon will only use that information to identify the user as a customer and to determine how to respond to the electronic mail. We will not use this information other than to resolve the matter identified in the e-mail.

If we are going to use your personal information in a different manner from the way we stated at the time we received it, we will try to contact you via email using the most recent information we have. If you have not given us permission to communicate with you, you will not be contacted, nor will we use your personal information in a new manner.

Visteon will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to others.

Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.

Periodically, we may send electronic newsletters and other communications that contain industry, marketing, product or event information. Only Visteon (or agents working on behalf of Visteon and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings. At any time you can easily opt-out of receiving further marketing from Visteon by following the instructions within the mailing.

Visteon will retain the data collected only as long as it is useful or necessary.
