Visteon hosts CareerStart Discovery Expedition for underprivileged youths

Visteon is making a difference in society, not only by producing innovative, industry-disrupting technology, but also by developing employee strengths in key areas and providing tangible real-word experience for emerging talent.

Putting this philosophy into practice, Visteon engaged in the “Discovery Expedition” in China in August. Six underprivileged students from the Shanghai Sunrise sponsorship program were given the opportunity to visit Visteon’s Asia Pacific office and joint venture plant to get a better understanding of working life and the range of career opportunities available to them.

After HR Manager Linlin Zhang welcomed visitors, the participants received career-focused presentations by representatives of the engineering ADAS team. Visteon employees shared their own experiences about transitioning from school life to the professional world and offered advice to students on topics including university study and selecting a career path.

The face-to-face interaction was designed to provide exposure and broaden horizons in the hope that Shanghai Sunrise students may better understand the opportunities open to them as they begin to plan their own careers. The day concluded with a tour of the plant, where students got a firsthand look at the production of Visteon technology including digital clusters, displays and infotainment.

“Visteon is one of our most loyal corporate sponsors - without the support of partners like them, we would not be able to do what we do. My heartfelt thanks to the entire Visteon team for their compassion and generosity in enabling and organizing this unique experience for our students, which empowered them with valuable knowledge – opening the door for these young people to realize and achieve fulfilling future careers.”
