Visteon delivers digital innovation with latest cluster in Kia Sonet

Despite continued uncertainty that has affected industries globally, 2020 has proved a promising year of development for Visteon in India, with product launches and vehicle line support adding to a burgeoning number of automaker models incorporating the company’s latest in-car electronics technology.

Following its debut of hybrid cluster technology in the country’s top-selling Hyundai Creta earlier this year, Visteon now delivers a cutting-edge cockpit solution for the Kia Sonet on regional markets.

Building on a flourishing relationship which was elevated with the digital cluster supplied to Kia’s popular Seltos model in 2019, Visteon now augments the customer’s compact SUV with a 4.2-inch multi-function interface that provides a display with vivid color and clarity, as well as critical driver information to the user including turn-by-turn navigation.

Instrument clusters are becoming increasingly digitized and play a key part in the wider industry trend of bigger, higher-resolution and immersive displays that are proliferating the cockpit. Visteon looks to lead the transition in this space and providing the first digital cluster to Kia's compact SUV is another significant step that establishes our commitment to delivering advanced cockpit electronics solutions in a major region for automotive.

Manufactured at Visteon's plant in Chennai, India, the Sonet's thin-film transistor (TFT) possesses a digital type speedo gauge with LED-based illumination gauges, while product functionality also delivers a tire pressure monitoring system and drive/fraction mode selection.

Other mechanical highlights for the cluster include a three-applique design, hidden pointer, and 3D effect on screen printing.
