Translucent Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO)
Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) is an interior skin material that maintains a conventional appearance, but also has translucent properties that allow light to be projected through the skin. This technology can create a unique interior atmosphere at night; it also enables vehicle series differentiation, distinguishable branding, and new locations for electronic indicators. The technology allows the skin to have a “dead-front" look until certain indicators are activated; that is,
it can hide the indicators behind the skin until they are lit, giving the interior a clean look and feel when the indicators are not activated.
Benefits
- Allows increased use of ambient lighting to create enhanced interior harmony
- Offers new alternative to provide driver and front passenger messaging and surface-mounted branding
