Radio Head Units
![]() |
The head unit acts as the central processing unit of an audio system. It contains a collection of subsystems housed in a compact package. At a high level, a head unit contains a tuner to receive analog and/or digital radio broadcasts, tone control (bass/treble), sound processing (balance/fade), signal processing circuits, and equalization. Most radios are also equipped with one or more media players.
With more than 30 years experience in designing and manufacturing automotive grade radios, Visteon has a radio head unit portfolio that spans the spectrum from a wide range from low-end economy single CD radios to high-end Digital Signal Processing (DSP)-based radios with multiple configuration options.
