HVAC Pulse Count Technology
![]() |
Visteon's HVAC pulse count technology is used to detect and control HVAC actuator position, based on direct current (DC) motor commutation pulses.
The system uses Visteon-patented control algorithms and ASIC to control the DC motor actuators via the power and ground wires only, eliminating the traditional feedback wire harness and position sensors.Benefits
- Reduces overall climate system cost:
- Reduces vehicle wiring complexity and cost
- Reduces HVAC module cost
- Minimal increase to climate control cost
- Reduces weight from wiring
- Provides equal or better climate system performance
- Improves pulse count positioning resolution < 1 deg. possible, based on HVAC design
- Improves speed of door/flap movement
- Conforms to EMC requirements; compliant with CISPR-25
- Seamless change to end consumer
- Increases system robustness by deleting feedback loop for each actuator
