HVAC Pulse Count Technology

hvac pulse count technology

Visteon's HVAC pulse count technology is used to detect and control HVAC actuator position, based on direct current (DC) motor commutation pulses.

The system uses Visteon-patented control algorithms and ASIC to control the DC motor actuators via the power and ground wires only, eliminating the traditional feedback wire harness and position sensors.

Benefits

  • Reduces overall climate system cost:
    • Reduces vehicle wiring complexity and cost
    • Reduces HVAC module cost
    • Minimal increase to climate control cost
    • Reduces weight from wiring
  • Provides equal or better climate system performance
  • Improves pulse count positioning resolution < 1 deg. possible, based on HVAC design
  • Improves speed of door/flap movement
  • Conforms to EMC requirements; compliant with CISPR-25
  • Seamless change to end consumer
  • Increases system robustness by deleting feedback loop for each actuator
