Fixed Swashplate Compressors
![]() |
Compressors are used to compress and move refrigerant through an air conditioning system. A fixed displacement swashplate compressor has a fixed-angle sliding plate mechanism that drives five double-acting pistons that compress refrigerant as its drawn through the compressor. The swashplate design allows for higher displacement (higher cooling capacity) in a compact design making the Fixed Swashplate Compressor the most widely used automotive compressor design.
Visteon's Fixed Swashplate Compressors are designed and engineered to offer cooling performance at low engine speeds and excellent Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) characteristics across all operating conditions. Visteon's portfolio offers a variety of displacement options and package dimensions that provide customers with a high-value choice for their compressor needs.
Benefits
- Provides strength and robustness to seizure under extreme operating conditions due to its forged/low friction coated aluminum, double-acting pistons and Swashplate designs.
- Offers a flexible packaging solution that reduces pressure pulsation and improves vehicle NVH because it has a unique integral pulse reduction design on all models and/or integral mufflers available on some models.
- Provides cost-efficient, space-saving solutions for multiple applications because it is available in a variety of displacements.
