Surround Sound Audio System

surround sound audio system

Many consumers enjoy the listening experience created by several distinct audio sources being generated from multiple speakers that surround them – such as when watching a movie in a cinema or on a “home theater” system. Visteon brings this vibrant, expansive and distinctive sound to the automobile.

Visteon's Surround Sound Audio System consists of a radio head unit, a digital multi-channel amplifier and a number of high quality speakers. The digital amplifier can be integrated within the radio head unit, or housed externally in a separate module. The radio head unit can be configured to support either DVD-Audio (DVD-A) or Super Audio CD (SACD) discs. Both formats generate high-resolution audio across six (6) discrete channels. Optionally, the radio can have matrix surround decoding using Dolby Surround Pro Logic® II or SRS Circle Surround® to create a surround sound experience from traditional stereo sources such as compact discs, FM broadcast, Satellite Radio, HD Radio™, etc.

Benefits

  • Enables a system with improved frequency and dynamic response because the radio is capable of SACD or DVD-Audio music playback.
  • Offers ease of implementation for vehicle manufacturers with no modifications to the existing package because there is no increase in radio size.
  • Allows system flexibility for vehicle lines that have both surround and stereo systems through a digital amplifier that can accept stereo or multi-channel input.
  • Provides the listener with a multi-channel surround sound experience even when listening to traditional two-channel sources like CD or FM via matrix surround decoding using Dolby Pro Logic II or SRS Circle Surround (optional).
