A uniquely crafted Instrument Panel from Visteon |
Tier 1 suppliers currently enjoy broad responsibility — supplying not just vehicle systems and components, but in many cases extending their responsibility to include system-level project management as integrators of the complete system. Visteon is keenly aware of this added responsibility and, using its in-depth understanding of the tradeoffs faced by automakers, seeks to provide vehicle manufacturers with best-in-class products and project-management services.
It's no secret that supplier expertise is particularly valued in the cockpit, where the close proximity of components and interfacing systems requires highly specialized knowledge. Visteon's systems engineering expertise is one key capability we use to help automotive manufacturers find the optimum solution to cockpit engineering and design challenges.
Technical Depth
For cockpit module engineers and designers, the key tradeoff is to manage the balance between system and component needs. For instance, if a premium in-vehicle audio system creates excessive heat, it may affect the functioning of nearby systems, such as the heating and air conditioning control unit. Because of Visteon's in-house engineering expertise in the areas of climate, electronics and interiors, vehicle manufacturers are able to receive advanced solutions that maximize the functionality of all three of these system areas.
As a company that knows the operating parameters of systems and components, Visteon regularly designs and engineers cockpits for optimal benefits in robustness, packaging and occupant comfort. And with its breadth of systems expertise, Visteon can manage the cockpit's structural, mechanical, electronic, comfort and safety interfaces while integrating the engineering of electrical architecture, electronics and climate all in-house.
Logistical Capabilities
By employing part-sequencing technology, Visteon can maintain its long track record of successfully delivering "just-in-time" — a process that can supply a variety of build-to-order assembly combinations while reducing supply inventory.
At Visteon manufacturing facilities, part-sequencing is used to manage automotive manufacturer build-to-order schedules to meet the regional needs of the customer. The plant's schedule accommodates flexibility in delivering exactly what the manufacturer needs, in a timely manner. By coordinating closely with the manufacturer, Visteon can have systems sequenced and ready for assembly, precisely matching a manufacturer's sequence on the assembly line.
As an experienced supplier of integrated systems, Visteon is well positioned to deliver integrated modules and systems and manage the often complicated interfaces with Tier 2 suppliers.
Trusted, Global Capabilities
As a trusted Tier 1 supplier, Visteon’s expertise can enhance any vehicle program. Visteon has delivered integrated cockpit modules since 1993 — demonstrating the ability to deliver quality systems that function seamlessly within the vehicle environment. What's more, Visteon's global manufacturing capabilities and ability to engineer and design on multiple continents, has helped Visteon become a leading supplier of cockpit modules worldwide.
