GENPAD® and UPV, two of Visteon's state-of-the-art computer modeling tools, can cut months from the design process and eliminate expensive prototype costs. GENPAD and UPV are two examples of how Visteon's innovative systems approach enhances vehicle performance, minimize cost and complexity, and deliver significant weight reduction.

GENPAD
GENPAD is a three-dimensional, knowledge-based computer modeling tool that helps designers establish the ideal relationship between the vehicle cockpit and its occupants. This exclusive Visteon design tool helps improve driver and passenger comfort in the car interior.

By creating a changeable "virtual vehicle interior," GENPAD allows engineers to explore numerous design options and evaluate how parts of the interior interact with each other and with passengers.

GENPAD allows automotive engineers to:virtual vehicle interior GENPAD

  • Automate evaluation of Society of Automotive Engineers and Automotive Manufacturer human factor elements
  • Test more options and reduce costly changes late in process
  • Generate rapid packaging evaluations
  • Make informed design decisions
  • Reduce development time and cost
  • Support accelerated program timing

GENPAD is able to perform over 50 interior ergonomic studies simultaneously. When one variable is altered, the system automatically calculates the other factors that may be affected and rebuilds the model. GENPAD allows engineers to explore countless design alternatives without the cost and time of creating physical prototypes, shaving weeks and even months off the design process while dramatically cutting costs.

UPV Benefits:

  • Improves occupant comfort
  • Reduces system development time and cost
  • Reduces component failure and warranty costs

UPV
Visteon's UPV software allows engineers to create virtual models that predict real world performance of climate control systems without having to build a physical prototype. UPV allows engineers to examine an entire integrated system inside and out, from engine thermal management to passenger comfort. This allows OEs to accurately measure the interaction and impact of a wide range of properties, from vent configurations to changing weather conditions.

UPV virtual modeling All of the testing within UPV can be done inside a computer. With virtual modeling, Visteon can maximize the performance of our climate control and engine cooling systems more quickly and efficiently. For example, we used UPV simulations to create a standard family sedan that requires 75% less power to heat and cool - which translates to better fuel economy and reduced emissions.

Systems Integration
At Visteon, we don't just build integrated systems. We use proprietary design tools to create more efficient integrated systems. Consumers benefit from vehicles that are more comfortable and convenient, and our customers benefit from our innovative design processes that save money and valuable time.

For advanced integrated systems designed with advanced processes, think Visteon.
